So today we made aplan with some of our lunch friends to go for okonomiyaki. If you don't know that that is, it's like a pancake with all sorts of stuff in it. Before that, however, I spent the longest time talking to kayo and friends (and avoiding one of two creepy guys that hang around the lounge sometimes.
This pencil case is either Kayo or Misaki's, but either way it still says "Elmo dreams in Rainbow colors." Considering the color scheme of the thing, I would say it's very likely that the illustration is also one of Elmo's fever dreams.
Here's the palce we at, plus some of the people who were with us.
You got to do it yourself! Unfortunately, Ayaka and Yuri were not so good at it and ours didn't always end up cooked.
They look like they knew what they were doing here, but they weren't that good. Because of the experience, though, the outing was fun.
Sam, Sakiko, and Yukiko didn't realize a picture was being taken, but essentially everyone else knew it and got involved.
Here's everyone with the bowls of things you put in your okonomiyaki. From left to right are Yarimizu (without her hat!), Ryoko, Ayaka, and Yuri.
Here's the group that went, minus Kevin and Dominik. Sam is at the top, and the other guy is Micah. Everyone else was named a few pictures ago. These are our lunch friends. Most of our better friends here are girls, because Japanese guys are often pretty boring to talk to for extended periods. By chance, this group seems to share lots of our interests, too, so it's fine.
This is a very, very fancy cafe that has one of the best cafe names ever. One would hope that a duck would be "ducky", it's much better than a duck that's "porpoise-y" or "velociraptor-ish".
Tomorrow we're going to see Colin in Akihabara an then go see Ayaka's band in concert. It should be an interesting day.
