Voice Actress Time

Today I had to go get the things I needed for my fan I was going to make for the concert.  This outing turned into more of an adventure than I had originally planned.  It was not, however, a physical adventure; rather, it was an adventure in nostalgia.

After picking up the supplies for the fan over near the station, I stopped by Tsutaya just to check the CDs and see what was going on.  I was delighted to see that Nana Mizuki is very high on the Japanese chart right now, and that got me thinking that I shouldn't leave Japan without some sort of unnecessary, non-CD Nana Mizuki merchandise.  Thanks to the Book-Off near my house, I was able to make this happen for very little money!  What I mean is that when Japanese people sell a magazine, they make sure the poster is still in there.

The above is not Nana Mizuki.  Her name is Yui Horie, and she is thirteen years older than me.  However, she is also delightful enough to be three kittens if she really wanted to.  Here's a set of her from 2005-ish playing with animals, because why not?  I like her a lot because she sang the opening to Sister Princess, and in general just sort of looks like a kitty all the time.

Okay, here's Nana.  I just took this picture to point out that she probably has the best smile in Japan.  It's very Japanese, but at the same time not frightening.  Many people don't realize that in Japan, no one goes to the orthodontist.  Braces are only given to people with serious structural problems that could get complicated if not taken care of.  That's why, when given a sampling of average Japanese citizens, the smiles will range from "dazzling" to "awful monster teeth".  It just depends on the person.  I don't really mind it.  Anyway, Nana's smile is very Japanese in that her teeth are pretty crooked (if you look closely you can see it, especially on the bottom row), but the overall effect is very nice.

Look, she's eating a salad!

One of the older voice acting magazines came with a list of that year's active vocal talents, and I went out of my way to find and photograph Yui-sama's entry.  Not that I don't know all this information already, but it's still very exciting for me to see her in a magazine somewhere within walking distance.

Here's that fan I made.  The Korean (the yellow part) is messy because I did it myself and I'm not good at art.  The pink lettering, which says two different variations of "I love you!", was actually pre-made just for this sort of thing.  Japan knows how to sell stuff.  Anyway, even if it's not pretty, I'm sure E-Young will love seeing it.

I would also like to note that as of today, I have acquired all the collectible Super Mario keychains that come with this certain brand of tea.  Hilariously enough, the last one I got was Mario himself.

Anyway, tomorrow is the After School concert.  I also have to buy one more event ticket at 10 A.M., so wish me luck.
